What Kitchen Extract Cleaning Costs in Hertfordshire
Typical price ranges, what drives them, and what a proper quote should include.
There is no single price for kitchen extract cleaning, because no two systems are the same. This guide sets out typical UK ranges and what moves the price up or down, so you know what to expect before your quote arrives.

Typical UK price ranges
| Kitchen | Typical full TR19 clean |
|---|---|
| Single-canopy café, takeaway or pub kitchen | £450 – £900 |
| Restaurant or hotel kitchen with longer ductwork | £900 – £1,600 |
| Multi-canopy or multi-storey sites | £1,600 – £2,500+ |
These are published UK ranges for a full clean of canopy, ductwork and fan with a certificate. They are a guide, not our prices — your quote comes from the specialist provider, based on your system.
What moves the price
Ductwork length and route. A short run straight through a wall is quick. A duct that climbs three floors of a converted period building or crosses a ceiling void above other tenants takes far longer. Access. Systems without access panels need them fitted on the first clean. Grease load. A curry house or chip shop that has gone a year without a clean takes much longer than a café on a six-monthly schedule. Timing. Overnight and weekend work to avoid service can cost more. Fan location. Roof-mounted fans may need access equipment.
Keeping the cost down
Clean at the interval your usage needs, not later — heavy build-up takes longer to remove. Keep filters clean daily. Put several sites on one schedule if you have them. And ask for an inspection first if you have no idea when the system was last done.
What the price should include
Canopy, filters, plenum, the full ductwork run, the extract fan and the discharge; grease readings before and after; before-and-after photographs; and a certificate with the next recommended date. If a quote only mentions the canopy, it is not a full TR19 clean — see the TR19 guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does kitchen extract cleaning cost in Hertfordshire?
Published UK ranges for a full TR19-standard clean with a certificate run from about £450 to £900 for a single-canopy café, takeaway or pub kitchen, £900 to £1,600 for a restaurant or hotel kitchen with longer ductwork, and £1,600 to £2,500 or more for multi-canopy sites. These are typical ranges, not our prices. Your quote depends on your system.
Why do two similar kitchens get different prices?
Mostly the ductwork: its length, how many floors it climbs, whether it has access panels, and how heavy the grease is. Out-of-hours working and roof access also affect the price.
Is it cheaper to clean more often?
Often, yes. A system cleaned before the grease gets heavy takes less time per visit, and many providers price regular schedules below one-off cleans.
Are access panels extra?
If your ductwork has none, fitting them is usually a one-off cost on the first clean. It makes every later clean quicker and is shown separately on the quote.
